Slovak Family Session : Lancaster, PA

In children on October 28, 2009 at 8:48 pm

Kelly warned me of their very active little boy named Sylas. We decided on the fantastic Musser Park in downtown Lancaster (one of my favorites) and I braced myself for this over active almost one year old.  I envisioned this crazy, super active, little boy…but then shyness took over and I worked my magic to warm up Sylas. It didn’t take very long at all for him to start laughing, running and smiling with his parents. This blog was really hard to be picky and only show my top favorites. There were so many fun and silly moments captured and I had tons of fun getting to know Kelly, Carson and Sylas.

Slovak’s I hope you enjoy and I hear it’s Sylas’s first birthday today! Happy Birthday sweet Sylas. Here’s my gift to you. Cheers!!

Suzie + Sean : Yorktowne Hotel : York PA

In Wedding on October 27, 2009 at 9:36 pm

Even though it was raining last Friday, seriously when hasn’t it been raining? This didn’t put a damper on Suzie and Sean’s day. I found out a fun fact; every big event in Suzie’s life, the weather is horrible. Her mom was really glad Suzie picked an all inside location for her wedding. Fearing her track record, the Yorktowne was perfect! I love the historic environment and we had fun running all over the hotel looking for cool places to shoot.  Big shout out to having my favorite flower image of the year, coolest cake topper yet and huge shout out to the awesome staff at Yorktowne! You helped ease the day with your coordination. Another shout out to Matt Cleveland, Occasions DJ’s. Matt is great to work with and will help you with all your DJ needs. Pure quality!

Here’s Suzie and Sean’s sneak peek post. I wish you two the very best!

Kristin + Jesse : Post Wedding : Story the Dress

In Client shoots, Story the Dress on October 20, 2009 at 5:11 pm

I’m not quite sure what I should call this shoot. Jesse and Kristin were married in marital bliss on a fantastic Saturday in August. Our last meeting before their wedding we realized we never photographed their engagement session! This happens, life happens and in between their wedding planning and house purchasing, e-session was pushed aside. We decided we’ll have their session in the fall. When I met Kristin the day of her wedding at her awesome getting ready, secret location spot, I knew we had to come back there with Jesse.

So here is their non engagement/ not day after session/ maybe Story the Dress session? You decide.

Jessica + Matt : Riverdale Manor : Lancaster PA

In Uncategorized on October 6, 2009 at 7:07 pm

I was very honored, humbled and happy to be photographing Matt and Jessica’s wedding on Saturday. In a weird twist they weren’t my clients until three days before their wedding. An absolute first for me! Luckily I was able to rearrange my schedule and photograph their wedding. Matt and Jess were panicking. Their original photographer went MIA. All contact numbers were disconnected, the studio gone, no physical business, lost their retainer and their photographer….vanished?  For the sake of karma I’ll keep the unethical photographer nameless. I have heard of them but I do not know them. I do not agree with this type of service and do not agree with taking advantage of people. I was raised with values and could never do what has been done.

My heart was breaking for my new found clients and I am very happy to be able to step in and help. Thanks to Dayna at Riverdale Manor I was able to help. I’ve met two wonderful families and grown closer to them in just a short couple of days then I have with couples I’ve booked years ago. It just happens like that. I think when you are thrown into an..an un traditional, un ethical, un ordinary situation you all become closer!

My main goal for their wedding (just like with all of my clients) was to relieve their fears and let them know their photography will be the easiest part of their wedding day. Well accomplished! The Springers and D’onofrio’s welcomed me with open arms. I met Matt the day of the wedding! Seriously a first for me.  The love, humor and huge smiles were enough for me and the love was pouring out everywhere. Yeah, no rain!!

Everyone was fantastic and a wonderful help. Thank you Jessica, Kelly, Jessica and Kelly (Bride and bridal party, easiest names ever!)

Jess and Matt I hope you’re enjoying Aruba and getting to relax.

My best, Krisha

Nicole + Lee : Richmond, Va : 2300 Club : Wedding :

In Uncategorized on September 29, 2009 at 7:53 pm

I’m going to keep this post writing section short and sweet. There are tons of images and I’d like to get right to them but first a little bit about Nicole and Lee. Nicole aka Pipi (yes, she always had pigtails) and I have been friends since we were 15..16…she’s a Lancaster Catholic girl and I’m a CV girl. Most of my super, close, tight friends came from other school districts. I think it’s pretty cool. We all had like, five different families. We could always find free food! Anyways, I spit to Pittsburgh for college, Nicole Philadelphia. We’ve kept in touch over the years, visited each other at the opposite sides of the state. Then four years ago Pip decided to move to Richmond, Va. I thought it was pretty cool of her, very brave to up and move. She had some friends already down there and she could transfer with work, she’s a H&M girl! (Where’s my discount by the way?)

Fast forward to a couple of months ago when I see “Pipi cell” calling me. I thought sweet it’s been awhile since I talked to Pip. “Hey Krisha, what are you doing September 26th?”,   “Ummm, nothing I don’t think” , ” Want to shoot my wedding? It’s in Richmond, VA”, “Heck ya!”

Nicole’s dress was custom designed for her by her co-maid of honor, Hannah Taylor. Hannah created Nicole’s dress out of linen! Hannah also made the outfits for the bridesmaids. Check out her work, she’s pretty awesome.

My love to you Pipi!

Oh wait, I should mention Nicole’s friend hand made all of their necklaces and bracelets. Here’s Jenny showing off her personalized jewelry. Nice!

Carson : Three Month : Session Fun

In Client shoots, Portrait, children on September 28, 2009 at 9:47 pm

It’s amazing how quickly newborns change, grow and discover. Carson has really grown since his  newborn session. He’s gained some baby fat and strength! He did really well during his three month session, belly ache and all. Carson’s latest body part discovery is his tongue. Super cute! His tongue is in full stick out mood but I managed to get a couple of shots of him laughing and cooing. I’m really looking forward to his five month session and praying for snow for his shoot. How much fun?!

While processing Carson’s blog post I played around with my newly updated Totally Rad Actions and Dirty Pictures. Super fun! I feel like it brings some excitement and life to my processing pains, lol. I love my Mac but some days I really miss getting my hands dirty literally with processing chemicals. I feel a dark room in my future…..

Melissa +Neal : Lancaster City : Engagement Session

In Uncategorized on September 16, 2009 at 9:33 pm

This past Sunday evening had the best light! I’m so happy I got to experience this with Melissa and Neal. I’m really looking forward to their February 2010 wedding. I’ve known Mr. Neal Rice since Jr. High school. Want to know a secret? Neal and I are two hours older than each other. Don’t quote me but I think Neal is older… :-P This means he hits 30 before I do next year but that’s not what we’re talking about here! (sorry had to rub it in!!) So these two April 21st babies hit the streets with the lovely Melissa.

There are people and connections in your life that you hold dear to your heart. Neal is one of them. When he called me to tell me he was engaged I had a semi big sister moment inside. I believe the words inside my head were “alright, let me meet this girl.” We set up our consult and as we talked I knew instantly that she was perfect for him. They both have huge hearts, huge smiles and huge laughs. Most importantly they are going to make some BEAUTIFUL babies!!

I wish you two the best and am so grateful to be part of your day. All my love!!

Ceci : Senior Session : Downtown Lancaster, PA

In Client shoots, Portrait, Senior Session on September 9, 2009 at 7:48 pm

Ceci and I hit the town for her senior session. Ceci allowed me to have full creative freedom, which is truly appreciated. I had a couple of spots in our neighborhood I want to scope out and use. Worked really well!

Ceci has headed into her senior year at Lancaster Catholic High School. It’s an exciting time for her as her future is bright and wide open…ahh…miss those days, lol. Ceci was joined by her sister Lexi ( a sophomore at PSU) an their dog Zeppo. I had a good time hanging out with the three of them and I wish the Miller girls a successful school year. Don’t forget your neighbor as you two grown up and start paving your own ways!

Love ya! Ps- Cemetery shoot, it’s on..when are we doing it? !! November?

Kara + Ben: Williamsport, PA : August 15 2009

In Client shoots, Wedding on August 18, 2009 at 6:53 pm

animation

Watch carefully, see the tan spots floating through the images? Yep, this was my surprise for the day. It’s not lens flare. There wasn’t any crazy big things of pollen floating through the air. There were tons of gnats. I set these four shots to motion to show how I believe I captured orbs. I used the outside of Kara and Ben’s church for one of the formal bridal party settings. Before Heather and I left to head home, Ben and Kara told us some interesting spiritual things were going on during their ceremony. Guests and both Father’s (full Catholic Mass) noted some strange happenings. One strange occurrence I did see and capture with my camera (I was baffled) but I haven’t gotten to check it out yet. I think it’s pretty cool! Believe or not that’s your choice, but I’m one happy girl!

Kara and Ben’s wedding took place in Williamsport, Pa. The country side up there was so much fun to play with. I’m so glad I could be part of their day. Everything fell into place and Kara and I think it’s fate.  The way everything fell into place, makes a person think.  Kara and Ben had complete trust in me and my creative vision. When I wanted to take her dress outside she didn’t flinch. “Go work your magic” Kara said.  Happily I obliged!

I hope you two are having fun in Honduras. Saturday’s heat and humidity was their test run for their honeymoon. I’d like to thank the Greene and Gamble family, bridal party too, for all of your help and creating fun times.

Love!

Love Sick : April 2009 : Lancaster, Pa

In Open Collection Images, children, life on August 12, 2009 at 7:54 pm

I have some fantastic friends in my life. Ask me to name my best friends and I probably have too many but my best, bests, have been in my life forever. We’ve all grown up now…we’ll we’re trying to and I have to say, we are some pretty tough broads. I’m very proud of my best friends. To say they are strong women would be an understatement. We are strong and rocking, and while I’m rhyming, I hear Vegas knocking….hint hint.  Majority of us have become spread all over the US. To think about it I’m the only one who came back and stayed. I think that’s worked out well!

Growing up I think we had ideas of  who would get engaged first, who would get married first, who would have babies first…in all of these I don’t think any of us banked on Julie taking all three firsts. She did, and she’s doing quite well. I give Julie propps for her life, she moved far away to the deap south, met her husband, got engaged at a Rancid concert, got her white picket fence (litterly) pool too, fantastic career and now fantastic momma. She has a lot more courage then I do and I don’t tell her that often. It does break my heart that she’s so far away, in Georgia, but I deal and when she’s back in town I make sure to clear my schedule for her.

In April Julie and Miss. Ruby Rose came to town. Here are some pictures of our day together.  I love you Julie. Can’t wait to see you in a couple of weeks.

Lindsey & Matt : York, Pa : Jacobs Family Backyard:

In Wedding, children on August 6, 2009 at 7:09 pm

Lindsey and Matt had a fun little reception party, gala, soiree in her parents backyard two weeks ago. Linds and Matt were married in Mexico in June (no swine flu, thank god!).  Their friends and family had a week of bonding while in Mexico. All of them came back in July to re bond again. Add in there some friends and family who couldn’t make the trek and you’ve got one heck of a party! Lindsey’s smile and laugh is infectious. I am so glad we got to spend this evening together. I’ve become very close to the Jacobs and Shultz/Sciortino families. I love photographing events when past clients and their families attend. I really value you all and am so glad to spend these special moments with you.

Cheers to the future! LOVE!! Ladies, when are we going to the Left Bank? I hear martinis calling our names!

Special thanks to Lori Hemphill and her Perfect Plan team. Lori is wonderful to work with and I highly recommend her services. A great coordinator is worth their weight in gold! Lori is there for you every step of the way. Her special touch really enhanced Lindsey and Matt’s evening. Please click here for Lori’s information. Big hug Lori, thank you!!

Jodi + Felix : Pinnacle Overlook: Landis Valley : 7.11.09

In Wedding, children on July 28, 2009 at 8:19 pm

I’m late on posting this wedding. I know, I know BUT there’s a good reason. I could not for the life of me edit the images down to a reasonable post! Seriously. I said the heck with it, third times a charm to edit it down. The number of images I’m posting is the number. 78 down to 50 something and ended up with 40ish I think. I know, crazy right?! I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t show only 15. Jodi and Felix’s wedding was so fantastically unique and awesome that I had to make sure you get to experience this one.

I suggest you check out their e-session post to introduce yourselves if you don’t remember. July 11th, ok wait back up….April. I’m meeting with Jodi and Felix, we’re chatting, laughing, I’m googly eyed over their son Lex (so cute!!) and then they ask me this question: “so how would you feel about going down a trail and climbing over some boulders, ok well not climbing, but walking over boulders for the ceremony?” I looked at them and said (typical Krisha response) ” Are you kidding me? Heck yes I’ll walk over boulders, that’s awesome”.  Truthfully when Jodi asked me  I wanted to hit her like Elaine on Seinfeld. Get out!

I knew they were the couple for me. Our personalities meshed so well and I truly hold a special place in my heart for this family. I got all teary eyed a couple of times. Jodi, Felix and their children are so warm, caring and always have a big, embracing hug for you. Heck, they make you want to hangout and drink a beer with them. I love that. They make me feel as comfortable as I strive to make them feel.

I do appologize for taking longer then usual to post your post but I do hope the wait was well worth it! I look forward to our continued friendship. Enjoy, xoxo Krisha

Time out, we have to talk about Pinnacle Overlook. It’s in southern Pa, Martic Township to be exact. The picture below shows you the trail of huge rocks we walked on, around and across to get to the last boulder aka cliff for their ceremony. The middle of the woods. I  was in heaven. This is the first ceremony to date that I know of to take place here. Think we all have good memories of the Pinnacle. Some might be hazier then others but always a good time.

Story the Dress : Heather+Mark : Avalon NJ

In Client shoots, Story the Dress, Wedding on July 23, 2009 at 7:20 pm

When I posted on my blog; beach sessions of any kind available, a light bulb went off in Heather’s head. Perfect she thought, I love the beach, she actually wanted to have her wedding on the beach and story’ing her dress was the perfect compromising solution! Heather and Mark were officially married in June. I wasn’t their wedding photographer but Heather was a portrait client of mine already. I was really excited when she contacted me for her Story the Dress session. The weather was perfect in Avalon on Sunday and so without further ado, here’s Heather and Mark!

We were wrapping up their session and Heather said, oh wait there’s a shot I’d like to do in the water…I said, sure lets do it! Originally Heather was thinking of just getting in the water up to her feet and bottom of her dress. I’m glad she made the decision to take the water depth further. Her decision was hers. Made on her own accord and rightfully I was on board!

Mrs. D : Boudoir Session : York, PA

In Boudoir, Portrait on June 30, 2009 at 6:44 pm

Last week I got to travel to York for my boudoir session. Mrs. D and I chatted during her pre-consult about her shoot ideas and brainstormed together. She had three very important prop ideas that pertained to her husband. Mrs. D’s session is an anniversary present for her Hubby.  From what I found out Mrs. D’s husband loves making his own beer, playing bass guitar and is a geek. A geek she loves very much!

I had a fun time during Mrs. D’s session. First shoot with a guitar, so sweet! Enjoy!

Joy + Justin : Shippensburg University Wedding : 6.13.09

In Uncategorized on June 18, 2009 at 9:11 pm

I might have photographed a milestone on Saturday. Justin and Joy’s wedding took place intirely on the campus of Shippensburg University! To my knowledge this is the first full wedding on campus. You might remember me talking about the unique setting of their wedding, click here for the low down.

We didn’t have rain on Saturday but we had sun and heat. Their ceremony was held in the Spiritual Center. The natural light was gorgeous. The leading lines inside the interior structure were awesome. Justin’s family from Tennessee are a riot. I laughed so much with them and his nephew was an entertainment barrel and a half! After their ceremony we ran around the front of Ship’s campus by the old main building and fountain….yep, fountain….did Joy get in???….. follow the photo trail and you’ll find the answer!

I wish you two the best on your honeymoon. We made it back to Lancaster safe and sound. My best, Krisha~

Megan + Ray : Riverdale Manor: Lancaster, PA : 6.11.09

In Wedding, klm Photography on June 16, 2009 at 9:16 pm

Where do I begin…..Megan and I have known each other since high school. Our dad’s and uncle have known each other since elementary school. Ephrata is in the Miley/Martzall blood! I was ecstatic when Megan came to me looking for a photographer to photograph her wedding. She also said, oh ya, my sister is getting married this year too! SWEET, two consults in one and I booked both!! Two Miley’s in one year!

Megan and Ray were married on Thursday at Riverdale Manor. The weather was a bit unfavorable but it worked to my advantage. Riverdale just completed a new outside pavilion and we got to use it for the ceremony. The wooden pavilion is fabulous and was a perfectly fit for the Newlin wedding. I was really looking forward to this wedding not only because Megan and Ray are awesome but because I haven’t seen some of her family in years and they are quite the characters! Man was I nervous on Thursday. Since Megan and I graduated together I got to see some of my CVHS Alumni (ahhh I sound old). I had a great time and many thanks to Maureen at Riverdale, perfection!

So a Miley has turned into a Newlin and they lived happily ever after…My best wishes~ xoxo Krisha

Business Posts : Bouncing Back : KL Martzall

In life on June 3, 2009 at 7:38 pm

There is a whole other side to me. A side that comes through now and then. A side that’s been formed from my genes. A side of me I struggle with from time to time. A business side. Scared ya didn’t I ?

Business is extremely important to me.  I think I’m getting the hang of it or a better understanding, as each day goes on. Let me explain; My Father (he rocks) is a business consultant. NOT your standard consultant by any means!  He’s shown me there’s an art to business.  While I fight and sometimes yell when I have to sit down and focus on the projects that are just no fun, literally a temper-tantrum inside every time. Yuk.  Projections. Goals and outcomes. Strategic planning. These words have become a staple in my vocab.

My point is this; One, I’m one VERY lucky girl for having fantastic parents and family support. Two, there are many times I’d like to post business stuff on here that I think makes sense for my clients/audience. Three, I’m going to start posting more then just images and client shoots. Whatever and whenever my mood strikes me I’m going to post things.

First up is an interesting article created by Jessica Bair of the Central Penn Business Journal, entitled Bouncing Back? One of her interviewees is my Father, Kirby Martzall, KL Martzall. Go Dad!

Here’s the link if you’d like to see other articles Central Penn has

CEO confidence up, index reports
Positive news came pouring out of Vistage headquarters in San Diego last month when the organization announced the largest quarterly gain in the history of its chief executive confidence index.

Business leaders across the nation feel the recession has bottomed out, with the end in sight, according to the first-quarter index. The index rose 11.9 points from the fourth quarter of last year. While the gain is significant, the index remains at the second-lowest level in its history.

The index hit its lowest point last year. Across the nation, CEO confidence in the economy had fallen 23.7 points during the fourth quarter of 2008, according to the index. This was the largest quarterly drop in the index’s five-year history.

But confidence is on the rise. At the end of 2008, more than 60 percent of CEOs expected the economy to worsen, but by the end of the first quarter of 2009 that figure fell to 21 percent, the index found.

“The confidence index is really a macro index of the micro feelings,” said John Dame, a midstate Vistage member and managing partner at Harrisburg-based Dame Management Services. “It allows us to see what other executives are feeling while wrestling with the issues of running a company in kind of a new economic era.”

The first-quarter index is a compilation of responses from 2,177 CEOs of small- to mid-sized companies in the U.S. It has a margin of error of 1.6 percentage points.

Vistage is a national group that is dedicated to supporting CEOs. It has more than 15,000 members, including about 250 in the Central Pennsylvania area, said Dame, who serves as a chairman for three local peer groups that meet once a month. He’s been involved with Vistage for more than two years.

Dame and his group members use the index as a measure of what’s happening in Central Pennsylvania as well as a way to gauge the national business community, he said.

“The last quarter of last year was really bad,” he said. “As you go forward through this year, I think we’re going to see the confidence coming back.”

In Pennsylvania, CEOs are beginning to feel more positive about the economy, as well. The first-quarter index found that 41 percent of CEOs in the state felt the economy would improve within the next year, while 40 percent expected conditions to remain the same. The remaining 19 percent thought the downturn would worsen. More than 150 CEOs in Pennsylvania participated in the index’s first-quarter survey.

Alan Garner, CEO of Harrisburg-based Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania, said the Vistage group has been helpful in a down economy. He said he joined Vistage about nine months ago.

The group comprises leaders from varied industries affected by the economy. Garner said he was better prepared when the downturn hit his company because he had observed how other firms’ leaders were responding.

Garner said the first-quarter results of index were encouraging.

“I’m absolutely glad that the indicators are going up, but we know as a nonprofit providing human services that the dramatic needs are still going to be there for a good period of time,” he said.

The index gave the members of Kirby Martzall’s Vistage groups a heads-up on the coming economic downturn in the fall of 2007. At that point, the index showed that CEOs across the country were beginning to question the economy’s stability and the likelihood of being able to grow, he said.

“In my groups, those members have been looking at the changing trends and the impact it’s going to have on business since October of 2007, giving them a real nice head start on preparing and taking action to try and minimize the downside and optimize the upside,” Martzall said.

Martzall, president and founder of K.L. Martzall, a strategic- and succession-consulting firm based in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County, has been involved with Vistage since 2003. He serves as chairman for three of the organization’s groups in southcentral Pennsylvania.

The index is important because it gives insight into the perspective of top decision makers across the country, Martzall said.

“The index is that early, early indicator that a collection of people who make decisions are seeing something a certain way, and how you see things has a lot to do with what you believe,” Martzall said. “And what you believe directly affects the decisions you’ll make and the actions you’ll take.”

Pat Bosma said she was interested to see that the index showed companies had made enough cuts within the past six months or so that executives did not anticipate the need to further reduce staff. In the first quarter of this year, more than half of the CEOs reported staff cutbacks, compared to the fourth quarter of last year when about a third of the CEOs reported cutting back their staff, said Bosma, senior vice president and regional banking manager for central and northeast Pennsylvania for Rhode Island-based Citizens Bank.

“It’s interesting to see that a lot of those companies have been very assertive to take the necessary action to make sure the company continues to be viable,” she said. “They are poised to take advantage of the uptick when it does come.”

Bosma is a member of one of the CEOs groups of the Central Pennsylvania chapter of Vistage, which she joined about a year ago.

“Quite honestly, you learn a lot more by listening to other people’s issues than dealing with your own,” she said. “I do feel it’s made me a better banker.”

The confidence of business owners reveals a lot about the state of the economy, Bosma said. She said she cautiously applies information from the index when looking at area companies because the economy can vary from region to region. The Central Pennsylvania area benefits from the diversity of industries, she said.

“I do find it fascinating and it is good to see what the business owners are thinking instead of just the economists,” she said. “The confidence index was up tremendously, which is really great to see. I think you have to get that business confidence back to see things move forward.”

Yea or nay: Midstate executives weigh in on whether economy is rebounding

Tom Wolf, chairman and CEO of The Wolf Organization: “I’m seeing the economy from the point of view of housing, and it seems to me … the rate of decline, maybe, has slowed down. The idea that we’re not in a freefall is a very positive note. In our industry, people are talking about (recovery) sometime in late 2010 (for) residential construction. I’m not sure we’re quite at the bottom, but we’re getting close.”

Andrew Samuel, president and CEO of Tower Bancorp Inc.: “I don’t believe we’ve hit bottom. There’s still some things we’re going to have to face … one of those being the commercial real estate situation. If you have a shopping center with a nail salon, a restaurant … when customers stop going there, they’re going to feel a pinch (and miss payments or go out of business, creating vacancy.) I don’t believe that the weakness has gone through the system fully.”

Dr. Roger Longenderfer, president and CEO of PinnacleHealth System: “There appears to be many indications that the recession is beginning to hit bottom.  However, the longer-term impact for health care has broadened. We are definitely identifying more uninsured and underinsured seeking care, more people having difficulty paying their bills, including co-pay and deductibles, and requests for assistance are increasing.”

Byron “Bud” Bergren, president and CEO of The Bon-Ton Stores Inc.:
“I’m still very conservative about what’s going on. … I don’t think you’re going to see consumer confidence rise until you see unemployment stabilize and people feel more comfortable about their credit. … One thing we have seen is it’s stabilized, so it’s more predictable. Last quarter we really didn’t know where things were, but for now you can manage it. But I don’t think it’s turned around. I don’t know if I can predict if this is the bottom or not. I would hope so. I still think there’s a lot of unrest out there with the consumer and unemployment. … Sales still are the unknown.”

Rob Bowman, president of Charter Homes & Neighborhoods: “I think the economy might have finally found a floor, with our local economy rebounding a little quicker than the nation overall. Locally, we are seeing more activity and selling more homes as a result of the opportunity for buyers to take advantage of historically low interest rates and the federal $8,000 homebuyer tax credit. If this is the turn, there will never be a better time to get great design, quality and value.”

Joseph G. Wagman, CEO of Wagman Construction Inc.: “Short answer: No. Long answer: The housing oversupply in Pennsylvania will take until somewhere in the 2010-12 timeframe to work off. In the interim, the depressed housing market will continue to be a drag on the regional economy. Similarly, on a more macro level, the international economy is still looking for a bottom, although China’s stimulus spending on state-controlled firms seems to be helping there and will depress demand for our products. Concurrently, the credit crisis will continue to impact access to capital, particularly for those firms who use the private bond markets to raise capital.

Ted Kleisner, president and CEO of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Co.: Nationally, I agree with the consensus of economists that appears to be saying that we are in the trough, in the bottom, of the recession. Now, how quickly it’s going to respond, I believe, will be regional. … I think, again, Hershey and Central Pennsylvania has that geographic location that has been less affected by the recession and will be more quick on the response curve than other areas.”

R. Scott Smith Jr., chairman and CEO of Fulton Financial Corp.: “My sense is that we have hit bottom. We’re there. The real question is how long we’re going to be here. I certainly don’t expect that, you know, that means we start to rebound rather quickly. … Our mortgage banking business is just setting new records every week. … Boy, that’s a long ways from where we were in October and November. (Also) there’s just this (better) mood that … you didn’t hear at all in February. And you know, a lot of this is psychological.”

William J. Reuter, chairman and CEO of Susquehanna Bancshares Inc.: “We are in unprecedented territory in terms of economic change, so it’s hard to predict the bottom of this cycle. Our own projections indicate continuing challenges for the foreseeable future. For many businesses, the challenge is achieving greater efficiency while maintaining the resources to expand and capitalize on opportunities when the economy rebounds. At Susquehanna, we work to serve as a resource for our customers, offering financial services and expertise to help them navigate this environment.”

Memorial Day Weekend: Family: Sprinkler Fun

In Open Collection Images, children, klm Photography on May 29, 2009 at 9:16 pm

Well, not only am I behind in client blog posting but I’m really behind on my family blog posting as well! On the plus side production turn around time is up, haha.  My goal next week is to catch up on my blogging. Stay tuned I’m posting a bunch next week…pinky promise.

I can’t believe that this time, last week, I was counting down the minutes until the holiday weekend. (can we rewind time please?)  While honoring my military friends and family I also got to hang out and play last weekend. It felt so good running around with my sister and second cousins, camera in hand. My mom had the fantastic idea of buying a new sprinkler toy for the little ones. So much FUN. Sometimes in this adult life we forget about simple pleasures. I think I want to have children just so I can buy toys again.

Here’s to kicking off the summer 2009 season! PS- July Beach session announcement next week too!!! Dig!

Joy + Justin : Shippensburg University : Engagement Session

In Client shoots, Pet, Portrait, Wedding, klm Photography on May 7, 2009 at 5:21 pm

I’ve been having a University trend with my e-sessions! For Joy and Justin we were like rock stars all over campus. Joy’s father has worked for Shippensburg U since she was little. Her and her brother even grew up on campus! Literally on campus, there is an elementary school there too. Next month Ship will have another milestone notched in Joy’s life. Shippensburg U is where Joy and Justin are getting married! I can’t wait, it’s going to be so different and we get to run around campus for their shots. To stay equal and fair this e-session involved some Tennessee U t-shirts…Justin’s from Tennessee. LOVE his southern accent.  Oh yes, not to be forgotten, Chance. Chance is their dog, a cool older Beagle who loves a good snuggle. Chance even had a bath prior to our session. That’s some love.

Enjoy the photos and I’m looking forward to next month!

Marlania + Nicholas : Millersville University : Engagement Session

In Portrait, Wedding, klm Photography on May 7, 2009 at 4:01 pm

Marlania and Nicholas have known each other since High School and they both attended Millersville University PLUS they’re both teachers! Seems like a path destined for the two, to continue life together.

The blooms were blooming and spring had started to… spring, when we had their session beginning of May. It was a little cloudy but the light was awesome! I had such a great time laughing and walking around campus together. I’m excited and can’t wait for their May 2010 wedding at The Inn at Leola Village. It’s going to be fabulous and a fun time as the two families merge.

Enjoy, Krisha~

Andrea + Ed : Lancaster County Park: Engagement Session (Ben too!)

In Client shoots, Portrait, Wedding on April 10, 2009 at 3:52 pm

Sometimes rescheduling because of weather really pays off, this was said case. Sunday’s weather was perfect! I hope this is a quirky trend that follows Andrea and Ed on their wedding day, April 26th. Finger’s crossed we’ll be in good shape!

We all meet up at Lancaster County Park. I love County Park for numerous reasons. I’m always discovering new shooting places and my dogies love the park too. I scouted out the best part and we started our session. Andrea had two requests; Can we please incorporate my convertible bug (of course, duh) and I’d really like some photographs with Ed’s Son. “He’s a cool dude”, her words exactly. I said heck ya to both requests and got all excited for their shoot. Andrea’s smile is infectious and warm, Ed is very cool, calm and dashing, Ben’s style is killer….I love my clients! Here’s a sneak peak of their session. I have more images to add but here are some of my favorites!

I’m so proud of my boys and I’m giving them a quick shout out!! Postage Co-Owner, Joseph Krzemienski and Creator, Jeff McComsey, have won Best Animated Short 2009!!! There will be a huge Hulk Hogan belt style award hanging in our studio!!

This is a must see and I’m happy to be a part of the creative process and watch the film transpire. Even if it was just allowing them to use my desk and drink some beers. PLEASE check out their film below (for mature eyes, some violence).

Story the Dress Session- Amanda Gower- Austin Texas

In Client shoots, Portrait, Story the Dress, Wedding, klm Photography on March 24, 2009 at 9:22 pm

Can I just say after spending four days in Austin Texas in the air conditioning coming back to PA was a shock. It’s freezing!! I wore my winter coat including hat and gloves for my morning walk to the studio. Geez. During Mandy’s session we were sweating in the 86 degree, high noon, Texas sun. Enough weather talk I beat you want to hear about what “Story The Dress” is all about huh?!

First let me take a few steps back. Todd and I flew to Austin last Thursday to photograph the Gower/Whitaker destination wedding. Now, I have known Mandy since College, go AIP (Pittsburgh that is), and when Mandy called to tell me I’m getting married I said awesome! We’ll be there. I love when friends are also my clients!! Most of the time it’s clients who have become my friend, I’m not complaining, I love it! Mandy like myself attended AIP for Photography and made her way from Pittsburgh back to West Virginia to Austin Texas…..where she met a boy (ok, guy) on a blind date and wham they’re married. Oh and she’s going to school to become a teacher and her new husband is kick arse saving the environment.  Hi Tommy.

A fun new type of shoot sessions came along a couple of years ago called Trash the Dress or Rock the Dress. This type of shooting was created/developed by an artistic genius named, John Michael Cooper. I absolutely LOVE JMC. I’ve studied with him twice and try to talk with him whenever I can. ****side note he’ll be in Lancaster on Thursday. Can’t wait!!*** John Michael is a true inspiration and mentor for me. He’s great for invoking all kinds of creative ideas and gets the artist thinking cap going. He’s truly a humble, caring man, that I have great respect for.

My TTD twist is called Story the Dress. I want to see my clients outside of the wedding environment with their dress. I want to see their personality come through while wearing their dress.  Wear those crazy heals your mother gawked at. Chop your hair and put your dress back on. Make that dress a part of you, give it life, create it’s story. Don’t suffocate the dress in a bag right away. Let the dress speak, show it’s self off and stand proud. Make your dress a noun, give it an identity. Create a little monster, heck we can even name your dress! Just don’t lock it up in storage while it’s 15 minutes of fame wasn’t over….Story the Dress. Combined we’ll be it’s narrator.

Here is Amanda Gower (now Whitaker)’s Story the Dress, Austin Texas style.

Me and My Boys

In Uncategorized on March 10, 2009 at 8:08 pm

My boys aka Allen Clements and Joseph Krzeminski (stop by Suite 1002 and meet all of us!) have combined their forces to create a new business venture called Postage VFX. Check it out Postage here. I’ll try my best to explain what Postage is all about but seriously, check out their site. Visually, their demo explains itself way better than I can.  Postage is your digital media one stop shop. They handle editing, animation and all of your video needs. You’ll be seeing more of their special talents via the new krisha martzall Photography site…coming soon….

What does every new business need??? Head shots for press and marketing, duh. First the good then the funny ones.

I wish you tons of luck and prosperity guys!

Girls Night in South Philly 2009

In Open Collection Images, children, klm Photography, life on February 26, 2009 at 9:46 pm

Oh where do I start?! So, maybe 8 yrs ago WE aka four generations of Palestini ladies started Girls Night in South Philly. My mother’s side of the family is pretty big and mostly woman (score!). My grandparents had four daughters and one son. The Palestini kids have produced 9 grandkids and they to date have produced 9 great grandchildren and there’s still room to grow. Minus my uncles and two male cousins, out of the 9, we’re mostly females.

*Attn: family members please correct my math if I missed someone in our family…not out of the realm of possibility! *

My Grandmom is 92 going on 93 this September. Each year we get together, leave the guys behind and drink, laugh, yell, eat, dance, did I say eat, watch old movies, look at pictures and pamper each other for 24hrs.

Here’s a glance of 2009. I love you all my ladies~

Funny story. While we were eating tons of Chinese food and pizza, my cousin Denise, noticed that our Grandmom was in the living room watching the Lawrence Welk tv show. She started reminiscing about when my cousins were younger how Grandmom would watch Lawrence and they’d (my other cousins) all dress up and danced while Grandmom watched the show. Then we turned and looked in the living room and the three little ones..walking little ones.. were dancing in front of the tv for Grandmom. Total coincidence and we all started to laugh. It was really cute and of course had to be documented!!

Snow Day With Cali and Coal

In Open Collection Images, Pet on February 25, 2009 at 8:49 pm

I haven’t posted the two loves of my life in awhile, I’m a bad mom. The end of January, Lancaster, received a wonderful snow/rain/ice event (seems like that’s how winter is going to be this year). I swear the dogs can’t tell the difference and think this winter mess is a gift for them. They run out of the back door at full speed chasing each other and getting their neighborhood dog friends all stirred up. It’s quite the event! On this particular day our backyard pond was half frozen half not. Being the paranoid momma I am all I could think about was; Coal’s going in the pond first, how can I get a 65lb dog out by myself, I’m going to wreck my camera….    I should mention our pond is about 1200 gallons and 3-4 feet deep.

None of the above came true…completely. Todd was home and eventually came out to play with us, so that help solve paranoia situation number two in my head! It was still freezing rain/sleeting while we were playing but this combo didn’t wreck my camera (score Canon!) and their whole bodies didn’t fall through the ice, just some paws. Once the pond is frozen they run across that thing like it’s no big deal. Cali’s usually the first to jump over it but Coal’s the first to walk on it like he’s walking on…water….more like he’s walking on the ground. He gives me the “no big deal, mom” look and proceeds to go back and forth on the pond. This day I have no idea how they were actually standing on it (images are coming to illustrate what I’m trying to describe, you could just skip this and scroll down now if you’d like). Anyways here are the two little heart breakers who I love to death and somehow love me to death back.

Enjoy!

Mrs.C Boudoir Session Valentines Day Sneak Peak

In Boudoir, Client shoots, Portrait, klm Photography on February 4, 2009 at 11:09 pm

Mrs.C was AWESOME! Her shoot flew by and contained lots of laughs. Mrs.C’s shoot is not only for her new hubby for Valentines Day, but it’s also going to him for support and inspiration while fighting overseas. I’m truly grateful for his..her…their, families sacrifice. I’m sure this will put an extra big smile on his face and warm his heart so far away. I can’t wait to hear about his reaction! Thanks for allowing and including me in on such a great present.

I can’t wait for the update!!! Happy pre Valentines Day Mrs.C

Mrs. K Boudoir Session

In Boudoir, Client shoots on January 6, 2009 at 9:55 pm

No, that’s not me! HA!

Mrs. K contacted me prior to the holidays for a b-session Christmas gift. I’m only getting to post some images from her shoot now because of the holidays and deadlines. It’s unusual for clients to get their online gallery first and then their sneak peak.

She is recently married bride who’s husband is serving in the Military. What a creative, funky, gift idea! Hmm…wonder if he took his present back to base with him?!

I had tons of fun Mrs. K!!
