Love Sick : April 2009 : Lancaster, Pa

In Open Collection Images, children, life on August 12, 2009 at 7:54 pm

I have some fantastic friends in my life. Ask me to name my best friends and I probably have too many but my best, bests, have been in my life forever. We’ve all grown up now…we’ll we’re trying to and I have to say, we are some pretty tough broads. I’m very proud of my best friends. To say they are strong women would be an understatement. We are strong and rocking, and while I’m rhyming, I hear Vegas knocking….hint hint.  Majority of us have become spread all over the US. To think about it I’m the only one who came back and stayed. I think that’s worked out well!

Growing up I think we had ideas of  who would get engaged first, who would get married first, who would have babies first…in all of these I don’t think any of us banked on Julie taking all three firsts. She did, and she’s doing quite well. I give Julie propps for her life, she moved far away to the deap south, met her husband, got engaged at a Rancid concert, got her white picket fence (litterly) pool too, fantastic career and now fantastic momma. She has a lot more courage then I do and I don’t tell her that often. It does break my heart that she’s so far away, in Georgia, but I deal and when she’s back in town I make sure to clear my schedule for her.

In April Julie and Miss. Ruby Rose came to town. Here are some pictures of our day together.  I love you Julie. Can’t wait to see you in a couple of weeks.

Memorial Day Weekend: Family: Sprinkler Fun

In Open Collection Images, children, klm Photography on May 29, 2009 at 9:16 pm

Well, not only am I behind in client blog posting but I’m really behind on my family blog posting as well! On the plus side production turn around time is up, haha.  My goal next week is to catch up on my blogging. Stay tuned I’m posting a bunch next week…pinky promise.

I can’t believe that this time, last week, I was counting down the minutes until the holiday weekend. (can we rewind time please?)  While honoring my military friends and family I also got to hang out and play last weekend. It felt so good running around with my sister and second cousins, camera in hand. My mom had the fantastic idea of buying a new sprinkler toy for the little ones. So much FUN. Sometimes in this adult life we forget about simple pleasures. I think I want to have children just so I can buy toys again.

Here’s to kicking off the summer 2009 season! PS- July Beach session announcement next week too!!! Dig!

Girls Night in South Philly 2009

In Open Collection Images, children, klm Photography, life on February 26, 2009 at 9:46 pm

Oh where do I start?! So, maybe 8 yrs ago WE aka four generations of Palestini ladies started Girls Night in South Philly. My mother’s side of the family is pretty big and mostly woman (score!). My grandparents had four daughters and one son. The Palestini kids have produced 9 grandkids and they to date have produced 9 great grandchildren and there’s still room to grow. Minus my uncles and two male cousins, out of the 9, we’re mostly females.

*Attn: family members please correct my math if I missed someone in our family…not out of the realm of possibility! *

My Grandmom is 92 going on 93 this September. Each year we get together, leave the guys behind and drink, laugh, yell, eat, dance, did I say eat, watch old movies, look at pictures and pamper each other for 24hrs.

Here’s a glance of 2009. I love you all my ladies~

Funny story. While we were eating tons of Chinese food and pizza, my cousin Denise, noticed that our Grandmom was in the living room watching the Lawrence Welk tv show. She started reminiscing about when my cousins were younger how Grandmom would watch Lawrence and they’d (my other cousins) all dress up and danced while Grandmom watched the show. Then we turned and looked in the living room and the three little ones..walking little ones.. were dancing in front of the tv for Grandmom. Total coincidence and we all started to laugh. It was really cute and of course had to be documented!!

Snow Day With Cali and Coal

In Open Collection Images, Pet on February 25, 2009 at 8:49 pm

I haven’t posted the two loves of my life in awhile, I’m a bad mom. The end of January, Lancaster, received a wonderful snow/rain/ice event (seems like that’s how winter is going to be this year). I swear the dogs can’t tell the difference and think this winter mess is a gift for them. They run out of the back door at full speed chasing each other and getting their neighborhood dog friends all stirred up. It’s quite the event! On this particular day our backyard pond was half frozen half not. Being the paranoid momma I am all I could think about was; Coal’s going in the pond first, how can I get a 65lb dog out by myself, I’m going to wreck my camera….    I should mention our pond is about 1200 gallons and 3-4 feet deep.

None of the above came true…completely. Todd was home and eventually came out to play with us, so that help solve paranoia situation number two in my head! It was still freezing rain/sleeting while we were playing but this combo didn’t wreck my camera (score Canon!) and their whole bodies didn’t fall through the ice, just some paws. Once the pond is frozen they run across that thing like it’s no big deal. Cali’s usually the first to jump over it but Coal’s the first to walk on it like he’s walking on…water….more like he’s walking on the ground. He gives me the “no big deal, mom” look and proceeds to go back and forth on the pond. This day I have no idea how they were actually standing on it (images are coming to illustrate what I’m trying to describe, you could just skip this and scroll down now if you’d like). Anyways here are the two little heart breakers who I love to death and somehow love me to death back.

Enjoy!

The beach is for the birds

In Open Collection Images, klm Photography on November 5, 2008 at 5:22 pm

I’m WAY behind on blogging. I appologize. BUT I’m doing multiple posts today!!

Laugh all you want but a couple of weeks ago (Oct 25th) I finally got to go to the beach. I know. It was October. Probably why I’m so pale but I love the beach during the off season. I got to share the weekend with some of my great girlfriends. Typical champagne drinking, painting toe nails while crying to Sex in the City type of weekend. Man, did I need that! I returned to Lancaster rejuvenated and refreshed.

Saturday it was rainy than sunny than windy than rainy…rinse and repeat….type of weather. Anyways while it was sunny I stepped outside with my camera onto the front balcony and captured this fun series.

Hello all. We are back from Colorado. We had a fantastic time! Maybe a little too much fun as Colorado has given me the gift of a cold. I’m starting to process some killer images of our trip and I’ll have them up shortly.

Stay warm!

What do you do for your 30th birthday party?? You could sulk, pout OR have a surprise roller skating partayy! A dear friend of mine, Dave, turned 30 and so his wife threw him a rollerskating party. Ice cream and all! There’s no doubt Dave isn’t a kid at heart. Just have a conversation with the guy and it’s all about electronics and the latest toys. We all had a great time. Some had blisters, sore knees and some even got reprimanded by 15yr olds, but all in all it was a good time. Made us feel young again. Here’s some of the days highlights.

My Morning

In Open Collection Images, Pet, Portrait, klm Photography on January 22, 2008 at 4:59 pm

If your not living under a rock than you know it’s COLD outside here on the east coast. If you are living under a rock maybe your hibernating because it’s COLD outside! LOL, did you know it’s COLD outside? I’m freezing just sitting here in my kitchen, ok our table is by our back door but regardless! The dogs on the other hand don’t mind, in fact I think it makes them friskier!

I’ve been busy meeting and book brides the past couple of weeks! We couldn’t be happier than we are at the response from our Knot ad! You rock thank you!! I’ve also been really busy shooting commercial work and am meeting with some really fun prospect clients for spring shoots. Lifestyle/Editorial photography rocks and that’s how I’ve been shooting since day one.

I was working on my laptop, processing some contact sheet from a recent head-shot shoot, and realized….man it’s quiet in this house…what’s going on?! Todd has been working more from home and between us and the dogs it’s hardly ever quiet in our house. So I stepped foot into our living room and this is what I found….

0765.jpg

Like father, like son.

The boys were taking a late morning nap. So me, being me, decided to WAKE everyone up and bother them all with my camera!

0775.jpg

From the very first day we spotted this little(ha ha ha) boy he was sound asleep. It look him 15 min to wake up and realize someone was holding him. It usually takes us awhile to wake up Coal.

0788.jpg

I’m amazed at the fact that this 55lb + puppy lays perfectly flat on the ground or curl up super tight into a ball.

0782.jpg

“Hello, I’m sleeping here!”

0790.jpg

0779.jpg

“Now I’m awake, party time!”

0795.jpg

As Cali has gotten older she absolutely hates getting photographed. She’ll run around whining, barking and grumbling because there’s a lens in her face. See the following examples! It’s so rare to get her to actually look at the camera. Pretty pretty princess!

0807.jpg

0808.jpg

0809.jpg

0810.jpg

08031.jpg

Gotcha Cali!

0842.jpg

“Please dad make it stop!”

0847.jpg

Yep, that’s me. Todd took my camera because by this time everyone is up and wound-up. Coal is the best snugglier in the world. Must have a Coal hug at least once a day….keeps the doctor away….so does not having health insurance! Another story for another day~

0849.jpg

0852.jpg

Gotcha again Cali!!

I’ve decided to create a “dog wall” in our house to full fill my need to show off my “kids”. It’s an addiction I know. Don’t worry we’ll have some humans on here soon. I just love photo essays. I’m also making a dogie portrait coffee table book. If your interested in your own pet book contact me and I’ll photograph their day and your time together. It really is tons of fun and I think you’ll enjoy showing them off just as much as I do.

Now back to work~

Long Beach Island. Heaven for dogs!

In Open Collection Images, Pet, Portrait, klm Photography on October 30, 2007 at 3:53 pm

This past weekend we were invited by Todd’s parents to stay with them at Long Beach Island, NJ. I’ve been so excited all week for the dogs to experience the beach. It’s the off season so it’s free game for running, chasing seagulls, chasing algae, tasting saltwater and just being a crazy dogie. We had so much fun (once the weather cleared up!) the beach was beautiful. Sand is still coming out of Coal’s eyes!

NYC for PPE

Heather Johnson and I headed to NYC for the Photo Plus Expo. We had a great time and found our way through the city with ease! I checked out some great new vendors and will be adding some new photo products for klm Photography clients to choose.

Prints made from beeswax…I think it’s awesome! Here are some city shots.

Julie getting ready in Georgia

In Client shoots, Open Collection Images, Wedding, klm Photography on October 24, 2007 at 6:28 pm

A couple of weeks ago the shoes were on the other foot for me. I was IN a wedding and not photographing one. Weird I know! Of course I brought all my gear down to Augusta Georgia, for my best friend Julie’s wedding. I tried to capture as much as I could, but was limited since I had to walk down the isle and get dressed and all that fun wedding stuff! Honestly it was kinda weird being in a wedding. I think I was more nervous than the bride and we all ran to the bathroom and cried when the ceremony was over. From time to time I do get a bit weepy eyed while I’m photographing weddings, think I get caught up in the emotions. This wedding was so great because I got to spend the weekend with some of my best friends since high school. We flew into Ga from all over the country. It’s been 4 years since we’ve all been together and man was it exhausting! Too much laughing!!

We spent the wedding morning getting dolled up at the salon. I was able to photograph Julie’s makeup session and the finishing touches of her hair session at Halo Salon. Our makeup artist, Lauren, did a smashing job and Sara, her hair stylist, made her look beautiful! We planned a Trash The Dress shoot on Sunday after the wedding, but sometimes you pack too much into one weekend and time just slips away. Oh well there’s always their one year anniversary shoot to Trash The Dress!! :-)

Lately I’ve been really into photographing objects with sun setting sun, lens flare and wide open spaces. I love construction. During a recent shoot for CHL I began to wonder around this soon to be finished gallery while Anne and Kelly interviewed the join venture partners known as The Infantree. Their space is almost done, but the natural light was incredible! It was fun taking some time, roaming around, shooting light, texture and space. I’ll include a link to the CHL EZine for October once it’s complete for you to check out the article on The Infantree.

lately in my down time I’ve been photographing the flowers in my garden and our growing puppy Coal. Cali and Coal had a really good photo shoot the other day, so I’ll post those images later in the week. But for now, I’m in love with my black eyed susan flowers. Hopefully I’ll spread them all over my yard for next year and the dogs won’t slam each other into them.

Here’s to hoping…cheers~

Mt.Snow

In Open Collection Images, klm Photography on August 3, 2007 at 3:36 pm

Finally Todd and I got to go somewhere this summer! It’s been flying by and personally I’m fine with that because I am NOT a huge fan of summer. Come on fall!! I’m done with this 90 + degree weather and humidity. Sorry for the rant, I’m moving on…

Todd and I took a couple of days away and headed up north to Vermont for a little bit of pleasure and stress…? For those of you who don’t know Todd, is a semi pro down hill mountain biker. Yah stress! We headed up to VT, more specifically Mount Snow Ski Resort for the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships

Click on the day 4 video to see clips of his race course, including the nerve wracking 12 foot cliff drop! Todd was truly nervous, but the talented pro he is, pulled it off and placed 10th in his class and that included wrecking twice during his run!! My hero!

We celebrated in Philadelphia with my aunts, uncles and cousins and their children alongside my 90 year old grandmother. It was awesome! Here’s a picture a captured of my cousin’s daughter Lilith after a tiff with her brother and then again a little later on.
